Hey!~

There is so much I have to say about this book! It's my new obsession.

Title: Marked

Author(s): P. C. Cast & Kristen Cast

Summary: Enter the dark, magical world of The House of Night, a world very much like our own, except here vampyres have always existed. Sixteen-year-old Zoey Redbird has just been Marked as a fledgling vampyre and joins the House of Night, a school where she will train to become an adult vampire. That is, if she makes it through the Change--and not all of those who are Marked do. It sucks to begin a new life, especially away from her friends, and on top of that, Zoey is no average fledgling. She has been chosen as special by the vampyre Goddess Nyx. Zoey discovers she has amazing powers, but along with her powers come bloodlust and an unfortunate ability to Imprint her human ex-boyfriend. To add to her stress, she is not the only fledgling at the House of Night with special powers: When she discovers that the leader of the Dark Daughters, the school's most elite group, is misusing her Goddess-given gifts, Zoey must look deep within herself for the courage to embrace her destiny--with a little help from her new vampyre friends.

My Review: This book is, in my opinion, great. I've been reading some of the reviews on some other sites and some people absolutely love it (me) and then there are some who think it suck. I think it's a new twist on vampires. I kind of like it better than Twilight, well no I like it better than New Moon, Eclipse and Breaking Dawn (books 2, 3, & 4 of the Twilight Saga by Stephenie Meyer). But if you want a book that's very heavy on vampires don't pick this one. The only real vamp-y thing in this is bloodlust and a dislike of sun. In the House of Night series mortals aren't bitten by a vampire to become one but they are marked by the vampire Goddess Nyx. Which means anyone could become a vamp if marked, but there's a catch you have to go to a sort of training school or die. Minus the dying part, I love this idea of a vamp boarding school! However, if Marked was a movie, it would be seriously rated R. There's quite a bit swearing and has some sexual references. It's a teen-y novel, you know with bullies, cliques and stuff like that, but still good. This book is written my a mother/daughter team, but I think the daughter wrote more of it. I really want to read the rest of this series, but my library (bless it's heart) only has the first book and fourth one, so it doesn't help me much at all.

Well, that's my last review for tonight. I have to go put the finishing touches on my english project. Don't forget to comment.

I disagree with the rated R part. I think it would be closer to PG-13.
